Is turning your spare room into an airbnb a good idea?

I've thought about this for a while now, not for myself, but have been curious to get the opinion of others. Has anyone on here put up their spare room or loft as an airbnb? I have a feeling it may be more hassle than anything. You have to deal with strangers on and in your property, their reviews, and keeping the space immaculate. Then, if they have kids and or pets, that's a whole other ball of wax entirely. Does anyone have thoughts or experience with this? I wonder how much money you could make doing this.

Thought about it but never did. If you believe people online though you can really clean up and make some good money over time. If you have a room you never really use and are cool with strangers and running a low rent b&b, go for it. I would say if you have kids though it might not be worth it. At the very least you'd have to be way stricter with your screening process.

Yeah, that's a good point. I could see it getting a little nerve wracking allowing strangers into your house when you have kids.
