I thought it could be a myth, but it's true. A guy named Kyle Macdonald was sitting at his desk and spotted a red paperclip sitting next to him on the desk. Inspired by a game called "Bigger and Better" (a game where you start off with something small and trade up to bigger items), he decided to put the concept to the test. So he went to craigslist and 14 trades later, the town of Kipling offered him a two story house in exchange for a movie role he had traded into. How about I'll let him tell his story. :)

this story has always fascinated me. I know from personal experience that it's possible to trade up on anything. As long as you play your cards right and make the right decisions when trading, there's a great chance you could do exactly what this guy did. He did it much more dramatic than most, but the story stays the same.

Heard about these kind of stories for years. Trick is to get lucky with a trade that is only equal enough in value to the other person, but not so on the open market. Or if they have something they don't value as much as they should. Works best as a thought experiment rather than a practical way to do business but still very cool when you luck out or are super creative with trades.
