My wife and I need a more economic means of travel, especially because she does a lot of driving for her job. Instead of her putting miles and wear and tear on her fairly new car, we've considered getting a cash car with good mpg. Can anyone point us in the direction of the best way of going about doing this, and is this actually a smart thing to be doing with our stimulus checks? In the long run, I think it's a worthy investment using our stimulus money, especially if we use the car a lot.

I'd give Facebook's Marketplace a look. Seems an upgrade to the likes of craigslist and cheaper than going to a dealership.

Yeah, I've heard good things about that Facebook group. Definitely worth a look. Don't worry about whether or not it's a good investment. I see it being pretty solid actually. Plus you can always donate it and get a tax break once you're done with it.

FB marketplace is pretty decent for used car purchases. But it's filled with scammers and people who waist your time unfortunately. CL has always been great, but here lately it's also filled with dealerships disguising there dealer sales as private sales. Out of the two I'd still go with CL though.
