Indulging on Extravagant New Years Eve Events

It seems crazy to me how much money people will spend on New Years Eve. Every major city has big annual new years eve parties that seem like they are trying to outdo each other in extravagance. VIP tickets or exclusive parties can run over $500 a person and then so many people order $200 bottles of champagne or pay a lot of money for a private booth at a club.

I personally like the idea of treating yourself to a nice dinner or a show but the idea of paying extra money to hang out in a VIP section in a club is a bit much to me. Although a formal gala event is fun but those prices are so high and you can get more lavish attention and service at other formal balls throughout the year. Also, fireworks shows are free to the public so watching a fireworks show to me is more fun than being inside a VIP booth in a club.

    Agree there for sure.

Is amazing how much people will pay for 'exclusivity'. I guess if you have more money than you know what to do with, go for it.

I love watching fireworks. I got lucky this year with the neighbors doing a big show right outside my window. That's the perfect spot for me. I wouldn't really know what to do with myself out in a club or VIP area. I'd definitely enjoy a nice dinner or gala event from time to time though. New Year's Eve just gets a bit too crazy for me to go out and really enjoy it.

My clubbing days are long behind me and I love nothing more than an intimate dinner/show with a small group of great friends. It's a heck of a lot more fun than spending hundreds, if not thousands, for the right to sit at a table for "X" number of hours only to be required to spend far more in order to meet your "minimum" for the night.

This year is going to be quite different for obvious reasons, but I look forward to being able to enjoy dinner and a show before heading out to watch some fireworks in 2021.
